[Mix With The Masters] Inside The Track #76 – Chromeo “Bonafied Lovin”

, , Leave a comment

MWTM presents the debut video series featuring Canadian electro-funk duo Chromeo! In these videos, David Maklovich and Patrick Gemayel unearth some of their most significant career work and tell the stories behind it. They reminisce about the early days of working with limited resources, mostly in the analog field with some nascent digital technologies. The team describes how the recording of “Bonafied Lovin” was made using one drum machine, minimal instrumentation, simple vocals and the first plug-in they ever used… Guess what! They explain how their workflow has evolved over the years, sharing how they wrote and created the songs “Fancy Footwork” and “Jealous”. In addition to discussing their own methods, Chromeo reminisces about collaborating with DJ duo Oliver, mixers Philip Zdar and Manny Marroquin. Playing raw and mixed material, they compare versions and comment on the changes made.
